Network² Scholarship Holder 2023/2024

I don’t have to think long about what I remember most from my scholarship year at Netze BW: the people. The program is called Network² for a reason. I have never met so many passionate, motivated and inspiring personalities in one place. First and foremost, I think of the other “NetzNOWten”, the scholarship holders from my Network² cohort. A carefully selected group of students from various master’s programs, all dealing with the topic of energy in their own way. What makes it special: everyone is so different in character, yet somehow so similar – soulmates, friends for life, you name it. But these are not the only impressive individuals I encountered during the year at Netze BW: whether mentors, program leads or technical experts – they all share the drive to advance the energy transition and make the year truly unforgettable through their incredible personalities. When I think a moment longer, all our shared experiences come to mind: the visit to the offshore wind farm Baltic 2 and the “Netz-Nachwuchs-Nacht” are the undisputed highlights. But our trip to the main control center, talks on shared leadership or industrial doctorates, and even the Störtebeker festival made the final year of my studies a true enrichment. Speaking of enrichment – Network² also offers plenty of intellectual inspiration: alongside impulse lectures on technical topics such as innovations in the distribution grid or grid operations, workshops on positive psychology and stage presence had a lasting impact on our personal development. At the end of the program – and at the end of each Network² year – the question arises: what comes next? We discussed this life-shaping decision countless times within our scholarship group. As with all other tricky questions, the mentoring proved to be a real stroke of luck here as well. And not least, the many personal conversations and offerings such as the career marketplace gave us a realistic picture of careers in the energy sector. Network², with its inspiring people, unique experiences and preparation for a professional future, is one of the best times of my studies. The fact that we did not have to pay €250 per month for this program (but instead received it as financial support for the last part of our studies) still makes me smile today.

Network² Scholarship Holder 2022/2023

In my final master’s year in industrial engineering, I was looking for clarity on where I wanted to go after graduation. I chose the program because of the mentoring! I personally find other people’s career paths and experiences incredibly inspiring, and my mentor showed me how to find my way as an industrial engineer in an energy company.

The entire program exceeded my expectations! When applying, I thought: mentoring and €250 per month – what more could I ask for? I was absolutely positively surprised by the mix of exciting events with exclusive insights into the grid business, personal development opportunities, varied evening events and engaging discussions with like‑minded energy enthusiasts.

During my scholarship year, I learned and experienced so much: from power plant tours to visiting the hydrogen island in Öhringen or the main control center of TransnetBW, all the way to the highlight of nearly every Network² cohort: visiting an offshore wind farm. It was never boring.

Before the program, I had already gained some insights into the company through a working student position at EnBW mobility+. Network² enabled me to get to know Netze BW – and the EnBW Group as a whole – from an entirely new perspective. I am excited to continue building on these experiences now as a corporate trainee.

One thing is clear: my path will cross with Netze BW many more times.
