Our trainee program: Super diverse.

You can look forward to unique experiences, highly exciting tasks and forward‑looking projects — and you don’t even have to decide on a specific position yet, as you will move through different areas of the company over the course of 18 to 24 months.

  • Your practical assignments within Netze BW last between 4 and 6 months. After your first practical phase — which is assigned by the project coordination based on your previous experience and academic background — you can take an active role in choosing where you would like to complete your next assignments.

  • In addition to project work within the departments, a central assignment is worked on jointly by all program participants.

  • Training sessions, excursions and events prepare you optimally for starting your career.

1. Online application

As soon as recruitment for the trainee program begins, you will find the link to the position at the top of this page and in our job market.

For your application, we only need your résumé and your degree certificate.

2. Online test

Once we receive your application, you will automatically receive an invitation to take our online test.
This includes various cognitive tests and a questionnaire about your professional motivation and goals.
Once you have completed the test, we will review your application and carefully check your documents using a list of criteria—this ensures that all applicants are evaluated on a level playing field.

3. Interview

We would like to get to know you better in a virtual conversation. At the same time, you have the opportunity to ask us your questions.

4. Experience Hub

After the interview, you will receive an invitation to our virtual Experience Hub (Assessment Center). At the Experience Hub, you will be given various tasks to complete either alone or in a group with the other candidates. You will also have the opportunity to talk to current trainees and gain deeper insights into Netze BW and the program.
After the Experience Hub, you will receive personal feedback and notification of whether you have been accepted into the program.

Frequently asked questions about our trainee program getready4NETZ

This FAQ collection gives you answers to the most frequently asked questions – maybe yours is one of them.


Applying is easy: in each job posting, you’ll find the link to the online application.

The selection for the trainee program is based on a clearly defined set of requirements for our trainees. In a three‑stage, fully virtual selection process, trainees are chosen based on the relevant competencies:

  1. Receipt of your application & Online Test Once we receive your application, you will automatically receive an invitation to our online test. It includes various cognitive assessments as well as a questionnaire about your professional motivation and goals. You have one week to complete the test, which will take around one hour. As soon as you have finished the test, we will review your application and you will receive feedback shortly after.

  2. Virtual Interview In a virtual interview with representatives from Recruiting, we would like to get to know you better. At the same time, you will have the opportunity to ask us your questions. The interviews take place virtually and last around 60 minutes.

  3. Experience Hub The third and final step of the trainee selection process is the virtual Experience Hub (Assessment Center).
    In the Experience Hub, you will face various tasks that you will complete either individually or in a group with other candidates. You will also meet representatives from HR, the works council, colleagues from different departments, and current trainees, giving you the opportunity to gain deeper insights into Netze BW and the program.

After the Experience Hub, you will receive personal feedback as well as information on whether you have been accepted into the program.

A cover letter is not required; a CV with the key stages of your professional background is sufficient for us.

In general, the following applies: as long as the position is advertised on the Netze BW job market, there are still open spots. Selection takes place on an ongoing basis. The earlier you apply, the better.

Our current trainee cohort started in November 2025. We will announce the start of the next application period on this page in due time.

Please apply specifically for the one trainee program that best matches your interests and qualifications. Of course, we will also review your application with regard to other trainee programs and consider you if there is a suitable alternative. This helps us avoid duplicate applications and allows us to make the selection process more efficient.

If you are interested in other positions outside the trainee programs, you are of course welcome to apply for those as well.

We are looking for 14 trainees for getready4NETZ.

At the end of the program, you take an active role in finding your target position. The goal is to place you, after completing the program, in challenging entry‑level roles within areas that — based on your technical and cross‑functional competencies and talents — offer optimal perspectives and opportunities for your personal growth.

The content of the trainee program provides a solid foundation for university graduates who aim to take on responsible specialist roles, project leadership, or initial management responsibilities in the medium to long term. Your further development after the trainee program is not predefined and can be shaped individually."

To help shape the energy industry of tomorrow, we expect our trainees to have the drive to put entrepreneurial thinking into action, a digital mindset to identify opportunities in times of change, and a passion for technical and engineering topics. You should be ready to dive into a constantly evolving world and have the courage to swim against the tide at times to set innovative impulses. With passion, you pursue ideas, question existing processes, and take a different approach to actively help shape the future of Netze BW.

During the trainee program, you will receive a permanent employment contract with fair compensation.

Your average annual gross salary is approximately €76,000, including vacation and Christmas bonuses as well as profit-sharing. In addition, you can receive capital-forming benefits and benefit from further advantages such as company pension schemes and energy price discounts.

Trainees have a regular working time of 38 hours/week. The distribution of working hours is based on the requirements of the programme and the models applicable in the respective company.

Your vacation entitlement during the trainee program is 30 days. Vacation periods must be coordinated with the departments of your respective practical assignment to ensure smooth planning and collaboration.

You can choose your primary workplace from Stuttgart, Karlsruhe, or Biberach. As part of the trainee program, exciting assignments await you at various Netze BW locations. With the option to work partially from home, you gain additional flexibility — something you can arrange individually in coordination with the departments.

After a minimum of 18 months, you can transition into a position within Netze BW. Alternatively, you can complete an additional practical phase and move into your target position after 24 months.

No, an international assignment is not planned. Netze BW is deeply rooted in the region. However, projects at various locations across Baden-Württemberg are available.
